Mark White announced today he’s raised over $25,000 in his campaign to fill the vacant District 83 seat in the Tennessee House of Representatives.
“I’m humbled to have received such generous financial support for a special election campaign especially in this very challenging economy,” stated White. A Republican leader and small business owner, White is seeking the seat left vacant by the resignation of Brian Kelsey.
“The people I meet on their doorstep are tired of what’s going on in Washington. They’re concerned the out-of-control spending will work its way down to Nashville,” White said. “I’m running for state representative to keep Tennessee’s fiscal house in order. As a business owner, I understand the importance of keeping spending under control and taxes low. I’ll work hard to make sure state government is run like a business,” he remarked.
White is a small business advocate who currently chairs the local chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business. He is a former teacher and principal once named “teacher of the year.” He is founder and Director of the Global Children’s Educational Foundation, which helps children living in poverty gain a meaningful education.
White has been married 28 years. He and his wife, Kathy, have one daughter and two grandsons. He is a graduate of the University of Memphis and member of the Church of Christ.
The Republican Primary election for House District 83 will be held on December 1st and general election on January 12th. District 83 includes half of Germantown and much of East Memphis.
